Nadine Keller has been hiding a big secret from Jay Brown and the Mitchells on EastEnders.

The character – played by Jazzy Phoenix – suddenly made a return to the BBC soap last week, where she revealed she was pregnant with Jay’s baby. He was left reeling by her shock announcement but vowed he would step up for the baby.

However, in a cruel turn of events, it was confirmed that Nadine is actually lying about being pregnant – and now the other residents of Walford are growing more and more suspicious of her, not yet knowing if she’s telling the truth.

Viewers know that Nadine is lying to Jay and the whole family – but what is her motive for tricking the family, and who is she working with or even for? Will she get caught out for her lies?

Revenge twist

We know things didn’t end well for Jay and Nadine on the most part, as he struggled with his drug addiction and recovering from his horrific car crash. So fans were surprised to see Nadine back on the Square, and even more surprised to see her sporting a bump.

Could Nadine be working with someone to get back at Jay for how things ended between them, or did Jay still owe her money? Some fans are convinced Jay is deliberately being targeted by Nadine to get money out of him.

One fan wrote: “I figured Nadine must be in trouble to try this stupid scam with Jay. #EastEnders,” whilst a second added: “Poor Jay, after everything he’s been through in the past year really doesn’t deserve to just be used/conned for his money. What makes it even worse is Nadine purposely dragging Lexi into it. Guessing she’ll do a disappearing act pretty sharpish #EastEnders.”

Sibling theory

Some viewers are sure that Nadine has a DNA link to Walford, and that’s the reason she’s targeting Jay. After Lola died, Jay was understandably devastated but it wasn’t long before he ended up ‘bumping into’ Nadine. Could this have been her plan all along, to target him – and is that because there’s a connection between her and his wife Lola?

One wrote: “Nadine is clearly Lola’s twin sister, and Emma gave up Lola yet kept Nadine. So Jay’s had a fling with his sister-in-law Nadine, his stepdaughter’s aunt, his adopted dad Billy’s as yet unknown granddaughter, which also means he’s her adopted uncle!”

Could there somehow be a DNA link between either Nadine and Lola or Nadine and Emma? (

Unlikely accomplice

With Lola now sadly having passed away, fans have been thinking about who Nadine might be working with to try and extract money from Jay. Some are convinced it could be someone very well known to the family, whilst others have thrown some different names into the hat as they try and guess what connection Nadine might have to someone we already know.

“After we discovered in tonight’s episode that Nadine actually isn’t pregnant after all and is conning Jay out of his money…. do you think Nadine & Emma are related or working together? Or could Nadine be linked to Billy’s dad Stevie who arrives next week? #EastEnders,” one fan shared, whilst a second added: “I’m still convinced that Emma & Nadine are working together to con Jay out of his money. I also think they are related #EastEnders.” A third wrote: “Could Emma be on the phone to Nadine? & could Nadine be Emma’s secret daughter? #EastEnders,” with a fourth adding: “Who was she talking to at the end !! Emma perhaps #EastEnders.”
