Meghan Markle and Prince Harry return to the polo in final leg of ‘royal tour’ in Nigeria
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared to be in great spirits as they headed to a charity polo match and gala fundraising dinner during their whirlwind trip in Nigeria

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared all smiles as they headed to a charity polo match for the final leg of their Nigerian tour.

The couple were guests of honour at the fundraising event held in aid of “support and uplift of injured veterans.” Meghan, 42, opted for her third outfit change of the day and appeared to be in good spirits as she joined Harry to watch the tournament.

Dressed in a summery beige halterneck maxi-dress Meghan beamed with delight as they posed for pictures upon arriving at the event. Earlier in the day Meghan had opted for two more colourful outfits donning a red dress and a bright yellow number.

The couple was due to present the winning trophy at the tournament held at Lagos’ city’s polo club on the island. They will then attend a gala fundraising dinner for event hosts Nigeria Unconquered.

The charity match advertised the Sussexes as special guests on invites promoting proceedings. One attendee told MailOnline of the pair: “They looked so happy to be there and it was a perfect day, maybe a little hot but they took their seats and immediately held hands. You can tell they are so in love it was wonderful to see.”

Guests at the dinner will eat at tables set up in an air-conditioned marquee with yellow flowers adorning the tables. Several large photos of Harry and Meghan are also on display in the makeshift eaterie.

Harry is well known for his love of polo having both attended and played in several charity tournaments over the years alongside his friend Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Figueras. Nacho is known as the David Beckham of polo and has joined Harry in his charitable organisation Sentebale.

Meghan meanwhile has formed a firm friendship with Nacho’s wife Delfina Blaquier as the pair grew close cheering on their husbands from the stands of the games. They have previously referred to each other as “sisters” and “polo wives” on social media.

Meghan and Harry’s trip is drawing to a close after a whirlwind 72 hours in Nigeria. The couple have been seen attending events, meeting key figures and members of the public, and giving speeches on the tour.

Meghan previously admitted that she had discovered she is “43 per cent Nigerian” and thanked the crowd in – thanked in Abuja for welcoming her and Harry to “my country.” The Sussexes were invited to Nigeria by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, who met Harry last September at the Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, Germany. Their invite came after Meghan found out about her Nigerian heritage.
