EastEnders fans are convinced they’ve rumbled a new DNA twist involving Billy Mitchell amid the arrival of his new secret family.
Soap fans will recall that the hit BBC One soap announced earlier this year that Billy’s world would be turned upside down this summer when he discovered that his dad, Stevie Mitchell, has been hiding a secret family. The BBC One soap teased at the time: “Stevie’s son Teddy Mitchell will arrive in Walford later this June alongside his sons Harry and Barney in search of his dad, but he soon gets more than he bargained for when he comes face to face with Billy, Phil and the rest of the Mitchell clan.
“Tensions will run high as Stevie confesses that Teddy is Billy’s half-brother, meaning there’s a whole new branch to the Mitchell family that neither Billy nor Phil knew anything about.” Viewers were briefly introduced to the new Mitchell family on Tuesday’s episode in an explosive ending while soap watchers got insight into the new characters on Wednesday night.
Earlier this week, Teddy, who had been looking for Stevie, learnt his father was in hospital as he paid him a visit. After spotting Stevie with Billy and Will, Teddy decided to find out the truth about their identities as he followed them home to Albert Square. Teddy waited until they had left the property before he found a spare key outside the front door and let himself in, scaring Honey Mitchell in the process.

Later, Teddy decided to befriend Will as he took him to the pub and as the Mitchell family learnt that Will was with the intruder who broke into their home, they confronted Teddy. It was all about to kick off until a reluctant Stevie was forced to admit that Teddy is Billy’s brother, leaving everyone in shock.
On Friday’s episode, Billy was left reeling at Stevie’s revelation as tensions started to run between the family. In a bid to defuse the situation, Honey invited everyone to Phil’s house, leaving him unimpressed, as things got uncomfortable again. After a difficult conversation with Stevie, Billy ran into Junior, who advised him to give his family a chance.
Later, Billy offered an olive branch to Teddy, who was delighted and hugged him. The family then decided to sit down for a meal at Phil’s house and as Billy took in the happy family reunion, it appeared there were still secrets in store as Teddy asked Stevie why he was lying, warning that the truth will come out.
Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were quick to react to the scenes as one person said: “Stevie is definitely hiding something #EastEnders”, a different account put: “Ooo what is stevie hiding? #EastEnders” while another had a theory, adding: “I think Billy in EastEnders isn’t Stevie’s and Billy’s mum had a fling but Stevie doesn’t know how to tell Billy hence why he disowned him. Also I think Stevie had a secret fling with Phil Mitchell mum and he turns out to be Stevie’s. #EastEnders.”
