Emmerdale: With Charity, Lydia, and Chas all suspecting Tom’s ulterior motives, they agree to intervene because they feel Belle needs help. It’s time for Tom’s reign to end!

Tom King (James Chase) looks finally set to get his comeuppance following months of abuse towards wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) in Emmerdale.

Earlier this week, viewers of the ITV soap saw Tom hospitalised after being electrocuted in a barn, sparked (quite literally) in an act of rage upon discovering Belle had ‘miscarried.’

Little did he know at the time, but she’d actually aborted the pregnancy.

Belle was planning a getaway in Scotland to visit dad Zak and cousin Debbie, having become aware of the abuse she’s been facing, but the accident stopped her in her tracks – even more so when Jimmy King (Nick Miles) arrived with Tom in a wheelchair.

Once Jimmy left, Tom began to concentrate his attention on his wife’s mental health again, ignoring his own condition and early discharge – once again aiming to manipulate Belle’s emotions after she had told him about her ‘miscarriage’.

Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) called round to check on him, and he blurted out about losing the baby, adding that Belle felt ashamed. Belle remained silent, leaving Charity heartbroken.

Later, Charity discussed her suspicions about Tom to son Noah (Jack Downham) in the pub, insisting that no one is as perfect as Tom made himself out to be and that there must be something more sinister at play.

Back at Dale Head, Tom had pushed Belle to her limits and she finally admitted that she had an abortion, which caused him to launch a verbal attack at her.

Tom savoured every moment during her self-hatred and in tonight’s episode, tried to play the doting husband by making her breakfast.

After the pair headed to the cafe, Charity caught up with them again and asked Belle if they could have some alone time to discuss her loss. Tom was adamant that they couldn’t make it due to a later lunch with Jimmy and Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler), but Charity remained insistent.

Returning home, he slated Belle’s appearance and told her to brush her hair. Once she was upstairs, he climbed out of his wheelchair to reveal he didn’t need it at all – and threw himself on the floor.

With the three women all thinking there is more to Tom than meets the eye, they agreed to step in if they feel she needs help.

Is this the end of Tom?

Feeling unable to leave him alone, Belle declined to head out with Charity, who went to speak with family members Lydia (Karen Blick) and Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) about plans to get to the bottom of the situation.
